Wal Leeke

is the longest serving real estate agency principal in Byron Shire having entered the industry in Byron Bay in 1979. Wal studied economics at Queensland University and in 1970 started an import export business in Brisbane that was on-sold to Arnott’s Snack Food division. He took that experience into the surfing industry, importing, manufacturing, distributing and exporting surfing hardware, Australia-wide and, (eventually) worldwide, employing 18 people in the Byron Bay industrial estate.

Married for 30 years (to the same wife!) he has 4 children and 4 grandchildren.

Wal has a cultural and commercial sense of history in Byron, is well read in the Council’s planning laws (as they effect property development ) and has chaired various industry action groups on behalf of the 400 (approx) persons employed in real estate in Byron Shire

Wal specialises in property development and subdivision (residential and commercial) and manages projects for multiple long term clients.
